Sometimes a beautiful truth has got a lot of terribly ugly parts.
When I took this photo of the tree bark, I thought to myself how twisted and grotesque it looked. Its unslightliness occupied my thoughts and consumed me. It made my skin crawl.
Then I took a few steps back and saw how tall and gloriously magnificent the tree was. And I’m reminded to see the big picture and not just focus on a small frame of life’s many rough patches. Or to be so concerned with the minor faults of a person and missed appreciating his/her entire being totally.
The parts may be woeful, but the whole is wonderful!
